I made this wild record with multi-instrumentalist Ben Lanz. He’s got a doctorate in trombone performance and also plays everything else. Drums better than me, guitar, bass, synths etc. . .plus he had a nice recording rig. He used to live about 15 minutes away from me. There was a summer where I would go by their house every week and Ben and I would jam in his basement and record it all. For some reason, the songs that worked the best were these odd dub-style things.
We named ourselves Bonne Nouvelle and got the music released on Ernest Jenning. Right when we were about to announce the album, we discovered another Bonne Nouvelle – I think in England. He had released a few things on Bandcamp so we changed our name quickly. I came up with Million Lands. It’s kind of our names but it’s a band name. Who knows?
We had a tour booked around the East Coast in May of 2020 but Covid-19 happened and it was all canceled. This record is great though. You should pick it up!
